Purpose: to ensure all workers know how and are able to keep themselves and others safe from exposure to COVID-19
Actions: Openly discuss health officials recommendations
- Wear a masks that covers your nose, mouth & chin at all times
- Wash or sanitize your hands before eating or touching your face
- Sneeze or cough into your arm not into the air
- Distance from others 6ft or 2 meters
- Wear disposable gloves when appropriate
- KJM supervisors are to discuss any new developments, or worker concerns, at Daily Huddle or Toolbox Talks
- Report any concerns to your supervisor, or safety personnel
Screening for COVID-19
Actions:
- Daily, every person wishing to enter a KMJ workplace must submit to a temperature check
- Next a mandatory daily covid-19 questionnaire must also be completed and all answers being “No” prior to entering
- If you answer yes to any questions do not enter, but contact KMJ or your supervisor for further instructions
- Do Not come to work if they have any covid-19 symptoms, report to your supervisor by phone
- Call your dr. or Telehealth Ontario Toll Free1-866-797-0000
- If during the work day you develop any covid-19 symptoms, avoid others and report to you supervisor
Controlling Risk of Transmission
Actions:
- Follow provincial recommendations while at work or at home
- Use the sanitizer stations located at each entrance
- Clean hard surfaces and tools with sanitizing whips
- Avoid sharing tools, or wear gloves
- Separate controlled entrances for KMJ employees
- High touch areas to be cleaned before and after each use
- After deliveries, the staff wipes down all surfaces as required
Potential or Suspected Workplace Exposures
Actions:
- Never report for work if you have any Covid-19 symptoms, inform your supervisor and contact your doctor, or Telehealth Ontario for instructions
- If an employee has symptoms they are instructed to leave immediately and call their dr. or Telehealth Ontario.
- Any worker who may have been exposed needs to quarantine and get tested
- KMJ will cooperate with health officials and workplace parties to assist with contact tracing
- Worker returning to work will require to provide proof of a negative covid-19 test and be symptom free for 24 hours
- KMJ will stop all work and conduct a deep level cleaning of the affected workplace prior to work continuing
Managing New Risks
Actions:
We regularly check in with workers to see if changes are needed
- Encourage workers to discuss concerns at Daily Huddle &Toolbox Talks
- Potential Covid-19 risks to be noted on monthly health & safety inspections and reviewed by management
- Physical distancing and separation
- Mask wearing is mandatory until further notice during working hours.
- Clean door handles, taps and other surfaces with Lysol or similar wipes
- Providing hand sanitizer, masks, and instructions
Ensuring Our Plan is working
Actions:
Supervisors and the health and safety representatives meet weekly to determine the effectiveness of KMJ procedures
- Review and listen to concerns raised by KMJ employees
- Change procedures that are identified as being lacking in the review
- Daily Monitoring of the situation and Ministry of Health guidance to ensure our procedures are up to date
